General Class Information:  

• Our PE day is Tuesday. Pupils will need to wear black or navy joggers, leggings or shorts, a white t-shirt and trainers.  
• Singing lessons take place every Tuesday morning.  
• Library books are changed every Friday so please remember to return books on this day in order to receive a new one.  
• Our Class Saint is St Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa). Her feast day is the 5th of September.

Autumn Term 2025

English

We will be studying six main texts during this term:

Zog and the Flying Doctors

You Can't call an Elephant in an  Emergency

Funnybones

Hector and the Big Bad Knight

The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark

The Jolly Christmas Postman

Whilst studying these texts, we will be focusing on our handwriting, sentence work, character descriptions and narrative retell.

We also have daily phonics lessons following the Read, Write, Inc programme.

Maths

We follow the White Rose Maths scheme. Our topics for this term are place value, addition and subtraction and shape. 

Science

We are learning all about everyday materials this term in science. We will also be looking at the seasonal changes that occur.

Religious Education

Our topics for RE this term are Creation and Covenant and the we look at Prophecy and Promise. In Year 1 we are introduced to the story of Creation in Genesis 1 and will be learning how to be able to retell this story.

History

Our focus is on The Great Fire of London where we will look at the main events which took place and why Samuel Pepys was significant.

Geography

During geography this term, we will be looking at maps as our new topic. 

Physical Education

This term our focus is on dance.  PE takes place on a Tuesday so please ensure pupils arrive wearing a suitable PE kit so they are not having to change before.

Art/DT

Our topic for art is 'At the Seaside'

Our topic for DT is 'Slider Mechanisms'.

PSHCE

 This term of PSHCE topics are:

• Keeping Myself Safe.
• Rights and Responsibilities.

Computing

Our focus for Autumn  1 is Computing systems and networks- Technology around us
