General Class Information:

Our PE day is Thursday. Pupils will need to wear black or navy joggers, leggings or shorts, a white t-shirt and trainers.
Singing lessons take place every Tuesday morning.
Library books are changed every Wednesday so please remember to return books on this day in order to receive a new one.
Our Class Saint is St Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa). Her feast day is the 5th of September.

Summer Term 2026

English

We will be studying two main texts during this term:

'The Secret of Black Rock' by Joe Todd-Stanton

'The Last Wolf' by Mini Grey

Whilst studying these texts, we will be focusing on our handwriting, sentence work, character descriptions and narrative retell.

We also have daily phonics lessons following the Read, Write, Inc programme.

We follow the White Rose Maths scheme. Our topics for this term are:-

Science

We are learning all about Animals, including Humans this term in science. We will learn about the different parts of the human body and we will categorise animals into the five main groups. We will learn the difference between a carnivore, an omnivore and a herbivore.

Religious Education

In Year 1 we are following the Source to Summit Lighting the Path Programme.

Our first topic is Branch 5 'to the ends of the Earth' and we will be looking at the appearance of Jesus after the Resurrection, the Ascension and Pentecost.

Our second topic will be Branch 6 'Dialogue and encounter'. We will look at how Christians are a family and the faiths of Judaism and Islam.

History

Our focus is on Florence Nightingale this term in History and who is more significant, Florence or Mary Seacole?

Geography

During Geography this term, we will be looking at Australia as our new topic.

Physical Education

This term our focus is on Games and running, throwing and jumping. PE takes place on a Thursday so please ensure pupils arrive wearing a suitable PE kit so they are not having to change before.

Art/DT

Our topic for art is "In the Jungle''

Our topic for DT is 'Frame Structures'.
